This is a large, hand-knotted Persian carpet featuring a classic medallion-and-corner design with intricate overall patterning. The dominant background field is a vibrant madder red or rust-orange color. It features contrasting deep navy blue tones in the borders and corners, alongside accents of light ivory, cream, and soft green-blue. At the upper center of the main field lies a prominent, diamond-shaped medallion. The interior of the medallion is rendered in a light sage green or pale yellow hue, decorated with complex, symmetry-based floral and geometric motifs. Extending from its bottom point is a decorative pendant. The red field is densely covered with a repeating Herati or floral palmette pattern consisting of fine vines, blossoms, and leaves. The lower corners (spandrels) feature framed segments in deep navy blue with distinct floral details, echoing the design elements of the center. The carpet is framed by a wide primary border in navy blue, filled with alternating large rosettes, palmettes, and undulating leaf patterns. This major border is flanked by several narrow guard stripes featuring delicate, linear geometric guards.
