Description
This hand-knotted tribal runner features a classic Northwest Persian or Caucasian aesthetic, highly characteristic of traditional village weaving styles. The long central field is a vibrant madder red decorated with a vertical row of alternating large, geometric medallions. These medallions are filled with intricate star-burst motifs, ivory highlights, and stepped geometric edges. The primary field is enclosed by a deep indigo blue main border decorated with repeating stylized rosettes and geometric floral blossoms, flanked by narrower guarded borders featuring serrated leaf patterns or running dog motifs. At the bottom end of the central red field, there are charming, primitive representations of four-legged animals (likely horses or deer), which are typical signatures of nomadic and village tribal weavers. The rug exhibits a medium wool pile with visible fringe at the ends, beautifully displaying natural color variations (abrash) that give the piece its vintage character. Measurements are 3'4"x12'10".
