This new hand-woven rug from Afghanistan has been made in the style of a Tribal Kazak. The primary backdrop is a mottled light denim blue field adorned with three large, vertically stacked octagonal medallions (gul motifs). Each medallion features a multi-layered geometric starburst pattern in contrasting shades of deep red, navy blue, cream, and gold. The central medallions also house smaller, intricate tribal symbols. Small geometric shapes, diamonds, and stylized floral or animal elements are scattered symmetrically across the blue background surrounding the main medallions. The central field is enclosed by a series of detailed, compounding borders - A narrow, dark band featuring small repeating geometric teeth or waves; A wide, prominent cream-colored band filled with stylized, interlocking geometric tree-of-life or fork motifs in alternating shades of red, olive green, blue, and gold; A bold crimson red band detailed with a continuous geometric chain link pattern in navy blue and gold.
