Description
A rich textbook example of a Persian Hamadan style runner, with saturated reds and blues, hand-woven in India. The primary background (field) features a rich madder red tone. It is strongly contrasted by deep navy blue or charcoal borders. The accent details are woven in soft tones of sage green, light blue, ochre yellow, and cream. The center displays a repeating arrangement of geometric medallions, stylized rosettes, and angular diamond forms aligned down the vertical axis. Small symbolic tribal motifs and miniature crosses are scattered throughout the empty red spaces. The rug is enclosed by a prominent primary border in deep navy blue, decorated with a continuous, alternating pattern of geometric floral palmettes and connecting vines.
