Description

This antique Northwest Persian Kurdish runner rug displays a beautifully aged, rustic charm with a rich tribal composition. The gilded saffron-yellow field serves as a bright, burnished backdrop for the dense pattern. The pattern features an allover repeating botanical motif, often referred to as a "tree-of-life" or stylized vase design. Each column shows stacked, geometric blossoming trees or shrubs flanking central geometric nodes. The design elements show striking abrash color shifts between deep crimson reds, rich Prussian blues, forest greens, and ivory highlights. The inner field is framed by a thin serrated or sawtooth border, followed by a wide rust-red primary border featuring stylized geometric rosettes and tribal charms. The slightly irregular, blocky rendering of the floral motifs points to a hand-knotted tribal or village origin, typical of Kurdish weavers from Northwest Persia. These rugs are highly valued for their durable wool, spirited artisan geometry, and vibrant use of natural, vegetable dyes.

Measurements are 2'5''x11'5''. Rug Number X07984
