Named after the Safavid monarch Shah Abbas I, this is one of the most celebrated and foundational design vocabularies in classic Persian carpet weaving. Rather than focusing your eye inward on a core medallion, this layout distributes the patterns evenly across the surface. The design feels expansive because the floral network runs seamlessly off the margins, neatly tucked under the main border system. The Main Border Motif: The wide navy blue border utilizes a rhythmic, repeating Samovar or Turtle Palmette design, linked together by continuous arabesque scrolling vines.
